Christmas Cards for the Housebound - Join Us
Join us at 11am on Friday 12th December at the Kingston Theatre Hotel for a simple but deeply meaningful act of kindness: signing Christmas cards for our housebound parishioners. This gathering is much more than a seasonal task — it is an opportunity to bring warmth, cheer and a sense of belonging to those who can no longer be with us in person.
For those receiving the cards, the impact is profound. A handwritten message arriving through the letterbox reminds them that they are remembered, valued and still very much part of the parish community. Many housebound parishioners treasure these cards, displaying them throughout the Christmas season as a sign of connection and comfort. For some, it may be the only card they receive from their parish — a quiet but powerful expression of love and solidarity.
There are also great benefits for those who come along to help. The morning offers a chance to socialise, meet new people, enjoy gentle conversation, and feel the joy that comes from doing something meaningful together. Writing messages of hope and goodwill brings a sense of purpose and shared mission, and volunteers often speak of the happiness that comes from knowing their small gesture will brighten someone else’s Christmas. It is also a lovely way to start the festive season — relaxed, friendly and rooted in Christian care for one another.
