Missio
Missio is the Pope’s official charity for world mission, working to share God’s love, uphold human dignity, and support the Church in places of poverty, conflict, and hardship. For over 100 years, Missio has helped build and strengthen Catholic communities where the Church is young, struggling, or persecuted — and Catholics here in England & Wales play an essential part in this mission.
At the heart of Missio’s work is a simple belief: every person is precious, every community matters, and every Catholic has a role in bringing hope to the world.
Through prayer, donations, and practical support, Missio reaches out to those most in need, offering both spiritual care and life-changing help. This includes:
Supporting missionary priests, religious sisters, and lay workers
Who bring the sacraments, teach the faith, run parishes, and form communities in challenging areas.
Helping children in need through the Mission Together programme
Providing education, safety, nutrition, and pastoral care for vulnerable young people.
Building and repairing churches, chapels, and community centres
Enabling places of worship and outreach to flourish in remote or deprived regions.
Training future priests in mission dioceses
Assisting seminaries so that local vocations can grow and serve their communities.
Standing with the persecuted and the forgotten
Offering support, solidarity, and practical aid where the Church suffers for the Gospel.
