Dates for your Diary

Ascension Thursday

On Ascension Day, the Church marks one of the great moments of the Easter season — when the risen Christ returns to the Father and entrusts His mission to His disciples.

In the Catholic Church in England and Wales, this is a Holy Day of Obligation, calling us to gather for Mass and give thanks for the hope and promise at the heart of our faith.

Ascension Day reminds us that Christ has not abandoned the world, but goes before us, opening the way to eternal life. It is also a moment of calling — the words “Go and make disciples of all nations” continue to echo in our lives today.

At St Charles, parishioners and visitors are warmly invited to join in the celebration of Mass on this special day. It is an opportunity to pause in the midst of daily life, to reflect, and to renew our sense of purpose as part of the wider Church.

Whether you come regularly or are returning after some time away, you will find a welcome here.

Come and share in this important feast, and in the joy of Christ’s Ascension.

Tours of the Historic Saint Charles Borromeo Church

After Sunday morning Mass, there’s a new and rather special invitation at St Charles. Check our Newsletter for the exact Tour dates

Fr Phil will be offering a short monthly guided tour of our beautiful and historic church — an opportunity to step beyond the pew and discover the stories, craftsmanship, and faith that have shaped this remarkable place over generations.

These informal tours will bring to life the rich detail of the church interior — from its striking architecture and decorative features to the quieter, often overlooked elements that hold deep meaning. Whether you are a long-standing parishioner or visiting for the first time, there is always something new to notice and appreciate.

Fr Phil’s reflections will offer not just historical insight, but a sense of the living tradition of the Church — how the past continues to speak into the present.

There’s no need to book — simply stay behind after Mass and join us.

Come and see the church in a new light, and share in the story of St Charles.
